Manual Handling Training

We can provide this training on your site. Course duration – ½ Day.

The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work, (General Applications) Regulations 2007, Chapter 4 of Part 2, outline the requirements that must be adhered to in relation to manual handling. The key requirements include:

  • Carrying out a manual handling risk assessment of existing manual handling tasks before making an informed decision on what manual handling tasks need to be avoided or reduced.
  • Organising tasks to allow the use of mechanical or other means to avoid or reduce the need for the manual handling of loads by employees in the workplace. The hazards can be avoided or reduced through the introduction of appropriate organisational measures for example improved layout of a work area to reduce unnecessary long carrying distances; or the use of appropriate means, in particular mechanical equipment.
  • Providing instruction and training to relevant staff.

Forklift Training - Counter Balance and Reach FLT

Forklift Trucks (FLT) are amongst some of the most hazardous vehicle types in the workplace, frequently found in warehouses, workshops and factories.

The dangers associated with use of lift trucks in the workplace are often underestimated. Employees working with or around them often become complacent because lift trucks are quiet, busy, in frequent use and part of the environment. However, incidents involving lift trucks are usually serious and often fatal. Lift trucks are very heavy, even when unloaded and there is very little protection for pedestrians.

Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC)

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) is a qualification for professional bus, coach and lorry drivers. It has been introduced across Europe with the aim of improving road safety and maintaining high standards of driving

I deliver 5 different modules as part of the RSA CPC training that is a requirement for all Bus and Heavy goods vehicle drivers.

Abrasive Wheels Training

The Regulations state the all practicable steps must be taken to ensure that an abrasive wheel being used is suitable for the work being carried out, having regard to the risk of injury to persons employed. Our training covers:

  • Proper methods relating to the mounting of abrasive wheels
  • Hazards arising from the use of abrasive wheels and precautions which should be observed
  • Methods of marking abrasive wheels as to type and speed
  • Methods of storing, handling and transporting abrasive wheels
  • Methods of inspecting and testing abrasive wheels to check for damage
  • The functions of all components used with abrasive wheels, including flanges, washers, bushes and nuts used in mounting, and knowledge of the correct and incorrect methods of assembling all components and of correct balancing of abrasive wheels
  • The proper method of dressing an abrasive wheel
  • The adjustment of the rest of an abrasive wheel
  • The requirements of these Regulations
  • The use of advisory literature relating to the mounting of abrasive wheels
